All automotive companies are required to:
- Associate the codes provided by the Data Processing Center with vehicles intended for registration
- Record the code on the certificate of conformity
- Send to the Data Processing Center the information regarding the matching between code, chassis number and type approval
For vehicles from other European Union countries, the code is distributed to foreign manufacturers’ branches and automotive companies operating through exclusive agents.
The Anti-Counterfeiting Code is issued exclusively to manufacturer branches. All vehicles without a code from other European Union States must undergo nationalization procedures, even if they have the OE/OA registration code (for M1 and L category vehicles) or are accompanied by a national certificate of conformity, or if they are subject to fitting out or completion and do not have their own anti-counterfeiting code, distinct from that of the base vehicle.
