To register a vehicle in Italy that has been approved at the European level according to the relevant directives, it is necessary to obtain specific codes, known as registration codes, from the General Office of Motor Vehicles in Rome.
These registration codes (OR, OE, OA, OB, and so on) contain all the essential information about the vehicle’s technical characteristics, which will then be included in the circulation documentation.
Such codes and the related information are stored in the ministry’s database, so they can be retrieved during the vehicle registration procedure. What the new registration process (NPI) involves
NPI is the new registration process that allows for the direct entry of data present in the Certificate of Conformity. Currently, it is only available for completed vehicles in the international categories M1, M2, M3, N1, N2, and N3. The NPI allows for the elimination of the registration code assignment and the acquisition of vehicle data from the certificate of conformity.
This new process reduces registration times: the customer, in fact, has the possibility to register the vehicle on the same day it was purchased.
